About Firestarter
Firestarter is a crowdfunding platform that joins you in the fight for a free world in the spirit of solidarity. We want to strengthen the financial support for social movements, and will work as hard as we can to make these movements bigger and stronger. As such you will not find any for-profit campaigns on this crowdfunding platform. Firestarter puts the needs of users. In this way we help you build a better world.
Firestarter is a stable and straightforward platform that’s easy to use. It’s tailored to suit donors and organizers working within various movements. This shows in our concern with privacy, online security, ease of use, in the tutorials and guidance we offer, and in our continuing effort to connect to our supporters.
But Firestarter is not a passive platform. It is a project that actively works to strengthen these movements. We want to do this in a number of ways, including the activation of site visitors and building stable ties among sympathetic organizations that make crowdfunding more successful. We are your partner in the struggle!
Our Team
Firestarter is operated by a team of experienced activists and organizers with left wing organizations in the Netherlands. We share the vision that our movements grow stronger when we control our own supporting infrastructure. Once in place, such infrastructure will help us further build our movements. That’s why Firestarter is not meant to be a passive platform, we want to actively develop and strengthen our movements! Our team consists of all-rounders, but each member also emphasizes different parts of the work.
Haas
Haas (Hare) is our allround computer happiness manager, he deals with software, functionality, tech support and the like. Haas is to-the-point, quick-witted and his sense of humor has a shard bite. Hares are long distance runners, after all: the revolution is no sprint! Still he marches on through the night to help realize and develop Firestarter. Unlike rabbits, who burrow and hide underground, Haas can usually be found out in the field, working on projects that help bring us a free world in the spirit of solidarity.
Wolf
Wolf is our lead bureaucrat whisperer and strategy consultant. As such he is concerned with campaigns, services, finances and more. By no means a lone wolf, this team member is social, analytical and sharp. Wolf helps us build our legal organization and services, as well as developing collaborations that help develop finance within the movement. Despite the enduring myth, wolves in the wild have neither Alpha’s nor Omega’s: cooperation is horizontal and with a spirit of solidarity.
Hert
Hert (Stag) is our chief word sifter, involved with campaigns, outreach and training. Just like his antlers regrow each year, this team member can’t help from sprouting new ideas. Hert occasionally succumbs to the urge to use a lone boulder in the twilight as a stage and to let himself be heard. Being the daywalker of the group, it is rarer to spot him after sundown, but easier to find him at the crack of dawn, spreading the good word of Firestarter through social media, articles or a quick conversation.
